I RIVERSIDE presentano oggi il loro primo video e singolo estratto dal nuovo album “Wasteland”, il primo senza lo storico chitarrista Piotr Grudziński, venuto a mancare due anni fa. L’album sarà pubblicato su InsideOutMusic il 28 settembre 2018.

RIVERSIDE’s Mariusz Duda checked in with the following comment about the album’s overall concept: “I’d been thinking about exploring “post-apocalyptic” regions for a long time. I read books, watched films, played video games, all connected by stories about an attempt to survive in a world that had just ended. But writing such a story myself didn’t make much sense until now. RIVERSIDE are starting a new chapter and after our recent experiences, a story like that has gained more meaning. “Wasteland” is mostly about what’s happening in the world these days but it also makes a reference to the tragedy that befell the band in 2016. Musically, we’ve returned to darker sounds but we have also turned a new page and recorded the album in a different style. It’s still RIVERSIDE but expressed in a much deeper and more mature way. Most artists say the same thing while promoting their new releases: that they have just created their best work to date. I won’t say that because everything we have done so far has been consistently very good and unique. But I will say that we have never had such an incredible emotional load on any of our previous releases, and it’s not likely that we will ever make such a charged album again. “Wasteland” is an epic, multidimensional, poetic and very deep album. Perhaps of the once in a lifetime kind.”

After having just performed on a string of European festivals including the prestigious Night Of The Prog festival at the historic Loreley Amphitheater in Germany last weekend, RIVERSIDE are next embarking on the “Wasteland 2018 Tour” throughout October/November to support the release of their upcoming album. Colossus Morose – Seclusion

Anche non si tratta di un qualcosa in grado di sconvolgere le gerarchie all’interno della scena, il primo full length dei Colossus Morose mette in luce una realtà di sicuro interesse e con diverse frecce al proprio arco da poter utilizzare ancor meglio in futuro.

Ancora un esordio sotto l’egida della Endless Winter: questa volta tocca al duo Colossus Morose, formato dal tedesco C.J., il quale si occupa dell’intera parte musicale, e dal vocalist J.C., svizzero ora di stanza in Norvegia.

Il death doom proposto in Seclusion lascia uno spazio limitato alla melodia, anche se tale aspetto non è comunque del tutto assente, privilegiando un impatto più ruvido, con il lavoro chitarristico del musicista di Hannover che tesse un substrato sonoro denso e poderoso, sul quale si staglia il growl profondo e sofferto del suo compare elvetico.
Il lavoro gode di una durata ragionevole, cosa positiva anche in virtù delle caratteristiche di un sound piuttosto cupo e d’impatto, privo di particolari variazioni ritmiche o atmosferiche ma incisivo in ogni sua parte; una buona registrazione ed un’esecuzione complessiva apprezzabile rendono Seclusion un’opera di sicuro spessore, consigliata a chi predilige il death doom più ruvido e meno consolatorio.
Tra i brani spoicca la notevole Six (che nonostante il titolo è il quinto brano in scaletta …), in virtù di qualche variazione sul tema in più con l’alternanza chitarristica tra riff, parti soliste ed acustiche.

I NASHVILLE PUSSY pubblicheranno su earMUSIC il un nuovo album “Pleased To Eat You” il 7 settembre 2018. La band presenta il video del primo singolo “We Want A War”, già disponibile su tutte le piattaforme di streaming e download.

Lemmy personally blessed Nashville Pussy calling them “America’s last great Rock and Roll band”… and Lemmy should know.
Formed in 1997, Nashville Pussy preached its sleazy gospel over the past couple of decades alongside Motörhead in every rock outpost from Asia to Europe and back again.

Raised on a diet of Marshall stacks, Gibson Guitars, Jack Daniels and weed, Nashville Pussy is the bastard offspring of foul mouthed demented hillbilly ice-cream man Blaine Cartwright and tractor driving, nude art school model guitar prodigy Ruyter Suys. Nashville Pussy quickly gained a reputation for being like “AC/DC with a female Angus” in Ruyter’s blues meets punk frenzied guitar solos and Blaine’s hilarious “jailhouse nursery rhyme” lyrics.

The band’s bass player – spicy Colombian/Californian Bonnie ‘Bon’ Buitrago – began as a teenage fan of the band sneaking into shows, determined to make the leap from audience member to member of the band by mastering her craft on Bass. Atlanta native and ex-landscaper Ben Thomas on drums has quickly become known for his showmanship, precision and all around sensuality behind the kit.

“We are Rock ‘N’ Roll’s dirty little secret” – says Suys – “blissfully outliving musical trends we never knew existed. More than ever, everyone needs to escape to a place where they can pretend they don’t give a shit, let their hair down and get loud, sweaty and dirty. Nashville Pussy provides that unpretentious refuge. Everyone is welcome – just don’t dress up ‘cause it’s gonna get messy.”

Their 7th studio album Pleased To Eat You is certainly another milestone recording by the band you’ll need to share with your mom: Bourbon, Bar B Que, horse farms, good people and a great fucking record. Seriously, you hardly find a band that manages to act so easy, so fast and yet so impulsive as Nashville Pussy. A band that is not shy about expressing opinions loud and clear.

Eriphion – Hossana

Pur se punteggiata da qualche imperfezione, quest’opera prima targata Eriphion appare davvero interessante e per nulla banale, grazie ad una costruzione dei brani sempre attenta al coinvolgimento dell’ascoltatore, sia dal punto di vista lirico che musicale.

Hossana è l’ep d’esordio degli Eriphion, progetto solista del misterioso musicista greco M.

Siamo in presenza di un black metal grezzo, sincero e ricco di magnifici spunti, pur se sepolti da una produzione rivedibile (con la voce, come spesso accade, piuttosto penalizzata) e accompagnata da un lavoro percussivo a dir poco naif.
Ciò che rende questo lavoro apprezzabile alle mie orecchie è la capacità del nostro di rendere piuttosto attraente la sua offerta, imbroccando incisive linee melodiche che si reiterano piacevolmente all’interno dei singoli brani (My Fate in particolare).
La title track si snoda furiosa ma non priva di un appeal epico e melodico, Forever Me si palesa come un più solenne mid tempo, mentre The Forest si attesta su ritmiche analoghe sulle quali si staglia una melodia chitarristica dolente e cullante allo stesso tempo.
Pur se punteggiata da qualche imperfezione, quest’opera prima targata Eriphion appare davvero interessante e per nulla banale, grazie ad una costruzione dei brani sempre attenta al coinvolgimento dell’ascoltatore, sia dal punto di vista lirico che musicale.
Nel frattempo dovrebbe essere uscito il primo full length, sempre autoprodotto, all’interno del quale lodevolmente paiono non esserci brani presenti in questo ep, segno che M. ha parecchio da dire e non vuole perdere ulteriore tempo. Se anche questo lavoro verrà sottoposto alla nostra attenzione sarà l’occasione per verificare il reale spessore compositivo del musicista ellenico.

In celebration of the re-release of the album ‘AEALO’, Greek metallers ROTTING CHRIST have unveiled a brand new lyric video for the track “Pir Threontai”.
The band is currently in the studio recording their new album which will be released on Season of Mist in 2019.

ROTTING CHRIST have reached another peak in their long career that now spans over more than three decades. The Greeks have literally stood the test of time. With a steady core line-up and their well-honed live delivery, ROTTING CHRIST are filling concert halls and reap enthusiastic crowd reactions wherever they go. This demonstration of love from their followers is not just driven by nostalgia as the band has managed to evolve and grow, while staying relevant beyond the classics with their highly acclaimed latest albums such as ‘Aealo’ (2010), ‘Κατά τον δαίμονα εαυτού’ (2013), and ‘Rituals’ (2016).

With more than 30 years, 12 studio albums, a dozen EPs, singles and split releases, as well as more than 1.250 shows under their belt, it is about high time to take a retrospective look at this band’s fascinating musical development by picking a select choice of key tracks covering the many facets of ROTTING CHRIST that have sparkled over the years. With such a massive catalogue such an undertaking will always lead to controversy about certain additions as well as omissions from the final list, but the involvement of frontman Sakis Tolis in this extremely difficult task ensures that the result is at least relevant.

ROTTING CHRIST were founded by Sakis Tolis and his brother Themis in the year 1987. Starting out on a basis of death and grind, the Greeks had already embarked on a darker musical journey by the time their debut full-length ‘Thy Mighty Contract’ (1993) was revealed. On the following seven albums covering a ten-year period from ‘Non Serviam’ (1994) to ‘Sanctus Diavolos’ (2004), ROTTING CHRIST steadily defined their own distinct style by experimenting with elements from death, heavy, and gothic metal without betraying their black roots. At the same time, the band went from underground heroes to headliner status. With the highly acclaimed ninth album, ‘Theogonia’ (2007), the Greek stalwarts added an unmistakable native element to their sound, which has remained with them as a signature trademark ever since. Exploring the mythical legacy of cultures around the globe let to ROTTING CHRIST’s massively successful latest release, ‘Rituals’. With ‘Their Greatest Spells’, the Greek metal icons musically revisit their exciting legacy and even contribute a brand new track entitled “I Will Not Serve” to connect their past with the present.

Ireland’s post-metal group Raum Kingdom have shared their stunning music video, directed by George Karellas, for the track “Rebuilding The Bridge”, off the band’s critically acclaimed debut album “Everything & Nothing”.

Recorded at Dead Dog studios in Drogheda, Ireland by Johny Kerr, “Everything & Nothing” was released in June and sees Raum Kingdom refining their dark and emotionally intense post-metal sound merging heavy and dense riffs with ethereal and intriguing ambiences.

Oltretomba – L’Ouverture des Fosses

Il lavoro si snoda senza prendere in minima considerazione l’idea di una forma canzone, basando il tutto su un impatto ossessivo che va ad erigere un sound a suo modo primitivo e dichiaratamente privo di ogni modernismo.

Gli Oltretomba hanno un monicker italiano, cantano in francese e sono danesi: già questo basta per farci capire che questo trio ha bandito ogni forma di normalità a favore di sonorità disturbante e disturbanti, difficilmente riconducibili ad un genere specifico.

Se proprio dobbiamo incasellare la band da qualche parte, l’ambito nel quale maggiormente sembra muoversi più che agevolmente un album come L’Ouverture des Fosses è il doom, specialmente quando è l’organo di Grand Duc a prendere il sopravvento sul resto della strumentazione.
Il lavoro, che dovrebbe essere il secondo full length uscito in formato cassetta per Caligari Records, si snoda senza prendere in minima considerazione l’idea di una forma canzone, basando il tutto su un impatto ossessivo che va ad erigere un sound a suo modo primitivo e dichiaratamente privo di ogni modernismo, a favore di una ritualità che riporta alla tradizione egizia, in evidenza nella spaventosa Ablation de la Boite Cranniene, traccia che assieme allo strumentale Requiem Pour Grand Duc e a Le Texte des Pyramides appare meno pervasa dalla nichilistica incomunicabilità esibita, invece, in Des Experiences Cruelles Thoth e nella title track.
L’Ouverture des Fosses è un’idea espressiva non priva di spunti intriganti ma che, per sua natura, è rivolta ad una ristrettissima nicchia di ascoltatori: a me comunque questi bizzarri provocatori sonori piacciono e non poco; poi, da questo a far diventare la loro musica un ascolto abituale ovviamente ce ne corre , questo è chiaro …

Fretting Obscurity – Flags in the Dust

Flags in the Dust è un primo passo che merita un’abbondante sufficienza, perché alla fine i lati positivi superano quelli negativi, ancora troppi però per avvicinare per ora i Fretting Obscurity ai piani alti del genere.

Flags in the Dust è il primo parto discografico dei Fretting Obscurity, in realtà progetto solista del musicista ucraino Yaroslav Yakos.

Il death doom offerto nel corso di quest’ora abbondante è molto ortodosso, anche se possiede un che di antico, che a tratti ci riporta piacevolmente alla memoria album seminali per il genere come Serenades degli Anathema, tanto per citare quella che sembra essere la primaria fonte di ispirazione.
Anche per questo il lavoro si snoda con belle intuizioni melodiche sorrette da uno stile chitarristico un po’ naif ma alla lunga efficace, se è vero che al death doom si richiede soprattutto di produrre emozione e certo non virtuosismi strumentali in serie.
Così, tra dissonanze e distorsioni, il bravo Yaroslav ci introduce alla sua personale interpretazione del dolore che si fa musica, e tutto ciò avviene in maniera convincente, soprattutto se si è amanti, come detto, delle sonorità dei primissimi anni ottanta, anche a livello di resa sonora.
Così, se la title track si fa apprezzare appunto per i rimandi agli esordi dei fratelli Cavanagh, la successiva If There Is No Other Way to Love ‘Em si fa da subito struggente con un solo chitarristico sicuramente perfettibile ma ugualmente toccante, e cresce nel suo andamento più vicino al funeral.
Se Eternal Return è un brano ancora più lungo lungo ma interlocutorio, è senz’altro meglio la conclusiva Funeral Never Ends, nella quale il lavoro chitarristico diviene nuovamente fondamentale per rendere evocativo come merita il sound dei Fretting Obscurity.
Se l’album a livello compositivo non lascia spazio a recriminazioni, qualcosa da rivedere c’è invece dal punto di vista esecutivo e della produzione: la conformazione da one man band non sempre è la causa principale di una resa sonora scarna e perfettibile (i Doomed di Pierre Laube sono la dimostrazione più recente dell’esatto contrario) ma in questo caso forse Yakos avrebbe bisogno di qualcuno con cui confrontarsi, perché la sua conoscenza della materia è fuori discussione, ma la messa in pratica necessita ancora di qualche aggiustamento.
Detto ciò, Flags in the Dust è un primo passo che merita un’abbondante sufficienza, perché alla fine i lati positivi superano quelli negativi, ancora troppi però per avvicinare per ora i Fretting Obscurity ai piani alti del genere.

VOIVOD’s “The Wake” is the highly anticipated successor to 2013’s “Target Earth” album as well as the 2016 mini-album “Post Society”. The album was recorded and mixed by Francis Perron at RadicArt Recording Studio in Canada and its artwork (as well as the art for the attached singles, to be seen above!) was once again created by VOIVOD drummer Michel “Away” Langevin.

VOIVOD, who are currently celebrating their 35th band-anniversary, will begin a first European touring run in support of “The Wake” with rotating support by Maggot Heart (from 7th until 16th Sept), Nightrage (from 18th until 26th Sept) and Bio-Cancer (from 28th Sept until 20th Oct) on September 7th. Il 7 settembre 2018 i brasiliani KRISIUN pubblicheranno il nuovo e undicesimo album, dal titolo “Scourge Of The Enthroned” su Century Media Records, disponibile nei formati LP+CD, CD e digitale.
Oggi i tre fratelli pubblicano il primo singolo tramite un lyric video, creato da Miles Skarin di www.crystalspotlight.com.

“Scourge Of The Enthroned” è stato registrato con la supervisione di Andy Classen presso il tedesco Stage One Studio (Belphegor, Legion Of The Damned), il quale ha già lavorato con la band con gli album “Conquerors Of Armageddon”, “Southern Storm” e “The Great Execution”. Il primo singolo, “Demonic III”, sarà pubblicato il 13 luglio 2018.

The Sea Within – The Sea Within

La sensazione che regna al termine dell’ascolto di questo lavoro è che si sia persa l’occasione di dare alle stampe qualcosa di memorabile, derubricando invece il tutto ad un album di qualità sopra la media a livello tecnico, ma non altrettanto dal punto di vista dell’impatto emotivo.

I supergruppi sono da sempre croce e delizia per gli appassionati, perché se è  vero che l’unione di più talenti può fornire frutti prelibati, oltre a convogliare sulla nuova creatura i fans delle band di provenienza degli artisti coinvolti, è anche innegabile che più di una volta la somma dei valori finisce per essere di gran lunga inferiore alle aspettative.

Per i The Sea Within possono rivelarsi valide entrambe le eventualità, a seconda di quale sia il background dell’ascoltatore e il musicista preferito tra quelli che fanno parte del progetto in questione.
Intanto partiamo con il dire che la band è a trazione per lo più svedese, essendo nata dalla fervida ed instancabile mente di Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings, Transatlantic, tra gli altri), il quale ha chiamato a sé un altro gigante della scena come Daniel Gildenlow (Pain Of Salvation) oltre ad un suo fedele sodale come Jonas Reingold al basso, due musicisti statunitensi di sicuro spessore come Tom Brislin (tastierista che ha suonato dal vivo con Yes, Camel e Meat Loaf) e l’altro vocalist Casey McPherson (Flying Colors), ed il tedesco ma ormai americano d’adozione Marco Minneman, batterista del quale non citiamo le innumerevoli e proficue collaborazioni per problemi di spazio …
Con un tale spiegamento di forze, The Sea Within non può che risultare un buonissimo album progressive, più vicino però ai The Flower Kings che non ai Pain Of Salvation, per essere chiari, e questo alla fine può diventare lo spartiacque per quanto riguarda il gradimento del lavoro: l’interpretazione del genere più soffusa, e spesso contigua ad un raffinato pop di Stolt, ha per lo più il sopravvento sull’enfasi e sull’emotività di Gilldenlow, il quale offre la solita prestazione maiuscola nei due brani più belli per distacco dell’album, l’opener Ashes Of Dawn, splendida traccia nella quale i King Crimson paiono unirsi carnalmente con i Pain Of Salvation, e la chiusura del secondo cd intitolata Denise, canzone struggente nella quale il vocalist offre un’interpretazione da brividi.
Il resto del lavoro, che consta appunto di due cd (con il primo che si attesta attorno ai cinquanta minuti ed il secondo pari più o meno alla metà), si snoda in maniera soddisfacente seppure non esaltante, con qualche guizzo di classe piazzato qua là (notevoli anche la vorticosa e jazzata An Eye For An Eye For An Eye, l’intensa Goodbye, una delle tre canzoni interpretate da McPherson, e la composita benché forse un po’ troppo diluita Broken Cord, nella quale la convivenza tra i due cantanti appare piuttosto efficace).
Se aggiungiamo anche la presenza in qualità di ospiti di Jon Anderson e Jordan Rudess (invero entrambi coinvolti in maniera piuttosto marginale) e del bravissimo Rob Townsend (Steve Hackett) con il suo sax, non manca proprio nulla, sulla carta, per rendere questa opera prima dei The Sea Within un qualcosa di irrinunciabile: in realtà, l’assenza che più si nota è quella di almeno altrettante canzoni dall’incisività pari a quelle citate, a favore di una levità ed eleganza che sovente rappresentano pregio e difetto di parte delle produzioni di Roine Stolt, senza che questo sminuisca il suo meritato status di grande musicista (ci mancherebbe altro).
Come detto, deriva forse più dal mio amore per i Pain Of Salvation la sensazione che in questo lavoro si sia persa l’occasione di dare alle stampe qualcosa di memorabile, derubricando invece il tutto ad un album di qualità sopra la media a livello tecnico, ma non altrettanto dal punto di vista dell’impatto emotivo.
The Sea Within comunque farà senz’altro breccia nel cuore dei molti estimatori dei musicisti coinvolti; resta da vedere se il progetto avrà un suo seguito (oltre al programmato tour che vede, però, l’assenza di Gildenlow sostituito in toto da McPherson): se così sarà, allora penso che, aggiustando un po’ il tiro, l’auspicato capolavoro possa vedere davvero la luce.

SHOULDERCRUSHER METAL FEST IV

Per il quarto anno consecutivo torna lo SHOULDERCRUSHER METAL FEST, il festival più rumoroso del Val di Noto, questa volta in partnership con Tifone Crew. Come simbolo dell’unità siciliana (e non) sotto la musica, lo Shouldercrusher si dividerà in tre serate e tre location diverse, ospitando band provenienti dalle varie province isolane.

Il primo appuntamento è fissato per il 31 agosto 2018 in Piazza Mediterraneo a Marina di Modica (RG) con BuiOmegA, Saint Helens Project, Trilobite e Wildfire per una serata all’insegna della heavy music nelle sue diverse sfumature, simbolicamente portata nel contesto inusuale della piazza di una località balneare siciliana.

La piazza è circondata da locali in cui poter servirsi di food & beverage. Saranno presenti all’evento i motoclub Gladiatores, Bandidos e Motosicilia.

Adfail – Poetry Of Ruins

Nel complesso l’ep finisce per incidere meno del dovuto: gli otto brevi brani faticano a farsi ricordare dando l’impressione d’essere al cospetto di un lavoro interlocutorio, che arriva dopo quattro anni nel corso dei quali gli Adfail non sembrano aver fatto quei progressi che sarebbe stato lecito attendersi.

I russi Adfail, dopo due discreti lavori si lunga distanza, si ripresentano con questo ep di otto brani intitolato Poetry Of Ruins.

Il gothic doom della band di Kaliningrad è apprezzabile, per quanto nella media, ma si porta dietro diverse zavorre tra le quali un apporto vocale femminile che spezza in maniera irrimediabile il buon pathos creato dal connubio tra il growl maschile e le melodiche atmosfere, spesso punteggiante da un ottimo lavoro degli strumenti ad archi.
L’opener Ode evidenzia subito questo aspetto, rivelandosi un brano notevole nel quale il forzato inserimento di una voce da soprano (neppure eccelsa) ha, appunto, l’effetto di rompere il ritmo inficiando il buon incedere del brano.
Il genere, nell’interpretazione degli Adfail, è piuttosto orecchiabile e ricco di buone intuizioni, ma come tanti altri anche questi ragazzi russi non riescono a sottrarsi a quello che, a mio avviso, è più un pedissequo tentativo di seguire una moda che non una reale necessità; detto ciò, Poetry Of Ruins si snoda non senza intoppi, specialmente quando la band prova dei cambi di ritmo dei quali, anche in questo caso, non si sentiva affatto la mancanza.
Il gothic doom, in fondo, non è neppure una materia così difficile da interpretare, a patto di non complicarla eccessivamente: quando si trova una buona chiave melodica non c’è bisogno di avvitarsi in soluzioni volte solo a far perdere il filo conduttore a chi ascolta.
Emblematico è il caso di un brano come Escape, che parte abbastanza bene ed è più grintoso di altri, ma viene inopinatamente trasformato in un pastrocchio di difficile decrittazione, con tanto di improbabile finale arabeggiante.
Nel complesso l’ep finisce per incidere meno del dovuto: gli otto brevi brani faticano a farsi ricordare (tranne appunto la già citata Ode) dando l’impressione d’essere al cospetto di un lavoro interlocutorio, che arriva dopo quattro anni nel corso dei quali gli Adfail non sembrano aver fatto quei progressi che sarebbe stato lecito attendersi.

Eidulon – Combustioni

Combustioni è un lavoro di enorme pregio, che merita l’attenzione di un gran numero di appassionati nonostante la naturale ritrosia da parte di qualcuno nel lasciarsi piagare le carni dalle sonorità aspre e profonde messe in campo da Gemelli.

La sperimentazione ha un senso solo quando non è fine a sé stessa, su questo non ci sono dubbi: solo se vengono rispettate tali condizioni anche le sonorità più ostiche hanno la possibilità di ottenere la giusta attenzione da parte di una fascia di ascoltatori,dotata comunque di un’attitudine all’ascolto non comune.

Il progetto denominato Eidulon possiede tutti questi crismi, forse perché nonostante una lungo silenzio l’ottimo Francesco Gemelli (che molti conosceranno anche per il suo prezioso operato in qualità di grafico) dimostra una padronanza totale della materia, modellandola e piagandola alle proprie esigenze, sfruttando al meglio in tal senso il contributo degli ospiti chiamati a collaborare alla riuscita di Combustioni.
L’album è un contenitore colmo di materia pericolosa ed instabile, sotto forma ora di dark ambient, ora di un industrial dalle sfumature apocalittiche; il tratto comune del lavoro è, però, un incedere talvolta solenne che viene sfregiato dalle prestazioni vocali di ospiti di primo piano come Nordvagr (MZ.412) e Luca Soi, il cui apporto si rivela senz’altro attrattivo anche per gli appassionati di doom, senza dimenticare il significativo apporto fornito da altri nomi di spessore quali Kammarheit, Caul e Naxal Protocol.
Indubbiamente , se il brano che vede all’opera uno dei protagonisti dell’epopea della Cold Meat Industry (A Shimmer In The Void), si rivela una delle massime espressioni possibili che si possano esibire in quest’ambito, non è certo da meno una traccia a dir poco impressionante come Grande Rosso, nella quale Luca Soi abbandona le tonalità evocative utilizzate nel recente capolavoro dei Void Of Silence per ergersi sinistro nel declamare un testo in lingua madre al di sopra di un tappeto sonoro altamente minaccioso.
L’organo che si insinua tra le pieghe The Hierarchy Of The Inner Planes (ancora con Nordvagr e con il fattivo contributo di Naxal Protocol) è qualcosa di destabilizzante, così come l’instabile quiete evocata dai vocalizzi di Soi in Immanence, dove spicca l’apporto di Brett Smith (Caul).
Kammarheit non può che essere chiamato in causa nella traccia più canonicamente dark ambient del lotto, Averni Flammas Transivi, mentre i due brani del tutto appannaggio di Gemelli aprono e chiudono il lavoro in maniera esemplare, con In Igne Revelabitur, dal riferimento nel titolo al quel fuoco che è una sorta di filo conduttore del disco, dedicato all’artista Alberto Burri capace di utilizzare appunto questo elemento come pennello (la magnifica copertina richiama il tutto in maniera eloquente), e con Stratificazione Settima, superbe prove di dark ambient disturbante e allo stesso tempo avvolgente.
Combustioni è un lavoro di enorme pregio, che merita l’attenzione di un gran numero di appassionati nonostante la naturale ritrosia da parte di qualcuno nel lasciarsi piagare le carni dalle sonorità aspre e profonde messe in campo da Gemelli.

The Eternal have released the first single from their upcoming album ‘Waiting for the Endless Dawn’. ‘In the Lilac Dust’, which features the enigmatic voice of Mikko Kotamäki from Finnish doom legends Swallow The Sun, is available on all major online services such as Spotify, iTunes & Apple Music through Finnish Label Inverse Records. A Lyric video for the track can also be viewed at the Inverse Records youtube channel.

The current incarnation of the band featuring Mark Kelson (Alternative 4, Insomnius Dei, Cryptal Darkness), Martin Powell (My Dying Bride, Cradle of Filth, Anathema), Marty O’Shea (Dreadnaught) & Dave Langlands alongside the addition of renowned Australian guitarist Richie Poate (Dreadnaught). The band have spent over 3 years writing and recording what can be best described as the bands darkest & heaviest album to date.

Waiting For The Endless Dawn proves to be a heavy hearted, dark statement in the bands diverse and long career, which will see the band endeavouring to tour extensively and performing the album in it’s entirety in 2018 and beyond.

Tragedia di Genova: adesione di MetalEyes al lutto cittadino indetto per il 15-16 agosto

Come molti di voi sapranno, lo staff e la maggior parte dei collaboratori di MetalEyes risiede a Genova.
Crediamo che la notizia del crollo del Ponte Autostradale Morandi, avvenuto oggi, abbia fatto il giro del mondo, lasciando attonito chiunque abbia compreso la portata di una tale tragedia.
E’ per questo che la redazione della webzine ha deciso di non pubblicare contenuti nei giorni 15 e 16 agosto, aderendo al lutto cittadino e onorando la memoria di tutte le persone che hanno visto troncata la loro esistenza a causa di un evento che mai dovrebbe verificarsi.

We think that the news of Morandi Motorway Bridge’s collapse, which happened today, has spread all over the world, leaving everyone astonished by the extent of this tragedy.
This is the reason why we decided to not publish reviews or articles on August 15th and 16th, adhering to the city’s mourning and honoring the memory of the people who lost their lives due to an event that should never happen.
