Durante la ‘All Star Jam’ al Progpower USA Festival del 2007, l’attuale cantante dei NIGHTWISH Floor Jansen e il chitarrista dei PAGAN’S MIND Jørn Viggo Lofstad hanno spontaneamente unito le loro forze sul palco per interpretare alcune cover; immediatamente si sono accorti della magia creativa tra di loro. Benché i due musicisti non si fossero mai incontrati prima, hanno presto scoperto il loro comune amore per l’hard rock e hanno deciso di scrivere delle canzoni assieme. Nel 2008, conoscendosi appena, hanno composto un intero album. A causa dei rispettivi impegni professionali, il loro progetto NORTHWARD non ha mai potuto vedere la luce del sole… almeno fino ad oggi!
Nel 2017, anno di pausa per i NIGHTWISH, Floor ha contattato il suo vecchio amico Jørn Viggo, per vedere se fosse interessato a resuscitare i NORTHWARD. “Jørn Viggo ha risposto in maniera positiva e abbiamo iniziato a pianificare il tutto. Ci siamo incontrati lo scorso marzo in Svezia e abbiamo rimesso mano al materiale per vedere se fossimo ancora soddisfatti del risultato”, ricorda Floor Jansen.
Ben lontano da qualsiasi confine di genere, il suono dei NORTHWARD è potente, euforico e vicino alla tradizione di SKUNK ANANSIE, FOO FIGHTERS e ALTER BRIDGE, ma anche di band più vecchie come DEEP PURPLE e LED ZEPPELIN. È musica che va dritta al punto ed è senza compromessi.
Con l’aiuto del produttore Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT etc.) e liberi dalle influenze musicali delle rispettive band, hanno forgiato un raro diamante composto da riff pesanti e dalla voce inconfondibile di Floor. Benché le canzoni siano state scritte nel 2008, suonano fresche e vitali ancora oggi. “La musica è melodica, ma anche in your face e cazzuta. Bei riff, buone melodie, arrangiamenti eleganti. Ci piace definirla semplicemente ‘buona musica’”, ha commentato la cantante. “Abbiamo voluto esplorare il suono rock basilare con batteria, basso, chitarra e voce, senza strati di tastiere, cori, ecc.”.
Floor Jansen e Jørn Viggo Lofstad, sono accompagnati da Morty Black (TNT) al basso, mentre la batteria è stata suonata da Django Nilsen e Stian Kristoffersen (PAGAN’S MIND). Ci sono anche la sorella di Floor, Irene Jansen, che duetta su ‘Drifting Islands’ e Ronny Tegner dei PAGAN’S MIND che ha suonato il piano in un brano.

Symphonic death metal quartet Genus Ordinis Dei have revealed a brand-new music video for their latest single, Hail and Kill. The song, which was originally written and recorded by the legendary power-metal band Manowar is out now via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora, iHeartRadio and more! La band Melodic Rock della Repubblica Ceca presenta il primo singolo estratto dal loro omonimo album di debutto, che verrà pubblicato il 12 Ottobre per Freemood, etichetta del gruppo Tanzan Music.
Il video è ambientato al Bounty Rock Café, live club della città di Olomouc, Repubblica Ceca e mostra la band intenta a prepararsi per il loro live accompagnata da amici e fans; il tutto diretto e filmato da Vojta Malik e Michal Plos di CUTS Production.
“Don’t Leave Me” così come il resto del disco sono stati prodotti da Mario Percudani (Hungryheart, Hardline) al Tanzan Music Studio.
L’album è un mix di AOR e Hard Rock melodico con l’accento sulle melodie, grandi ritornelli, ricche chitarre elettriche, arrangiamenti innovativi e un suono decisamente potente.

Alla produzione troviamo Fabrizio Grossi, noto produttore italoamericano che vanta lavori con Steve Vai, Billy Gibbons/ZZ Top, Joe Bonamassa, Ice T, Dave Navarro, Steve Lukather e molti altri artisti sulla scena mondiale. Mixato dallo stesso Grossi presso il suo studio di North Hollywood, il master è stato affidato a Pete Doell all’Aftermaster Studios in California.
Altra figura fondamentale per le sessioni in studio è stato Fulvio Ferrari, arrangiatore e compositore, nonché tastierista di Luca Carboni, il cui ruolo è stato centrale e determinante per la scrittura di incisive armonie corali e per la creazione di un sound sognante e psichedelico.

BIOGRAFIA
Dopo più di vent’anni di esperienze individuali, dai club più prestigiosi e underground della scena europea e statunitense, nel 2012 nascono i “The Criminal Chaos”: un incontro tra il cantante Nik Bergogni e l’amico bassista Pablo Chittolini. Lunghe selettive ricerche portano alla formazione del gruppo, prima con il batterista Emanuele Castagneti e poco dopo con il chitarrista Mirco Caleffi, in arte “Keffia”.
Il sound è da subito magico, sudato e ricercato, fino a coinvolgere nel progetto le sonorità elettroniche del fratello di Pablo, Ivan Chittolini.
Dopo un anno di prove in studio e l’uscita del singolo “Smalltown Boy” – rivisitazione della celebre hit dei Bronski Beat – , i Criminal Chaos presentano uno show live divertente e accattivante dal nome “No 80’s dead!“ con le hit più conosciute degli anni Ottanta totalmente riarrangiate in chiave rock.
Nel 2017 i Criminal Chaos interrompono l’attività live per dedicarsi in pieno alla composizione di brani inediti. Dopo un anno ininterrotto di lavoro, durante la fase di pre-produzione, il batterista Emanuale Castagneti decide di non continuare l’attività con il gruppo e porta la band a un inevitabile cambio nella propria line-up. I The Criminal Chaos ingaggiano il batterista Helder Stefanini, che in precedenza aveva lavorato con il bassista Pablo in un progetto dal nome “Chupacapra”. La sintonia è immediata tra tutti i componenti del gruppo.
Durante le fasi di pre-produzione e sessioni in studio, la band lavora a stretto contatto con l’ingegnere del suono Roberto Barillari, grande professionista italiano che ha curato e mixato il suono di: Lucio Dalla, Negramaro, Gianmaria Testa, Samuele Bersani, Stadio, Paolo Conte, Zucchero, Francesco Guccini e tanti altri big. L’enorme esperienza e la professionalità di Roberto fanno crescere i Criminali Chaos sia dal punto di vista sonoro che professionale. Grazie alla concomitante collaborazione con Fabrizio Grossi – produttore italoamericano che vanta lavori con Steve Vai, Billy Gibbons/ZZ Top, Joe Bonamassa, Ice T, Dave Navarro, Steve Lukather e molti altri artisti sulla scena mondiale -. Il risultato sono una manciata di brani inediti mixati successivamente da Fabrizio Grossi nel suo studio di North Hollywood e masterizzati da Pete Doell all’Aftermaster Studios in California.
Durante le sessioni in studio la band lavora e collabora con Fulvio Ferrari, arrangiatore e compositore, nonché tastierista di Luca Carboni, il cui ruolo risulta fondamentale per la composizione di armonie corali, creando un sound sognante e psichedelico.
Nell’agosto del 2018 i Criminal Chaos, in collaborazione con il regista Fabio Zedd Cavallo, girano a Tokyo il videoclip di “Eden”, che viene pubblicato insieme al singolo il 27 settembre 2018.
Nello stesso mese i The Criminal Chaos firmano un contratto con Bagana Rock Agency, per avviare l’ufficio stampa della band.

One of the most known and recognizable metal bands in Italy coming out of the pagan and Celtic scene, MaterDea has a new video entitled “One Thousand and One Nights” in support of their latest album “Pyaneta” released this past July on Rockshots Records.
Following the direction started with “A Rose for Egeria”, MaterDea’s new record is a further step forward into the melding of metal and Celtic music, in the personal style that MaterDea’s fans will acknowledge and love once more. It is a powerful symphony where all the instruments and the voices join the sounds of nature, painting new grandiose landscapes enriched by colors and sophisticated arrangements. The melodies reveal themselves along with the sumptuous guitar riffs, a powerful rhythmic session and the twist of strings and orchestration, allowing the listener to be carried away in a dimension full of energy, beauty and hope by these magical tales.

Traccia numero quattro nonchè title track del nuovo lavoro, “The Legendary Shepherds of the Forest” è la canzone che introduce al secondo disco della fantasy metal band meneghina, presentata oggi con un lyric video.
Vanta il featuring di Simona Aileen Pala, ex Unicorn Vocals Holy Shire e successivamente ospite per molti live, che ha contribuito alla composizione di melodie e testi nei brani da lei cantati nell’album.

Le due voci interpretano le due anime della canzone: la prima ispirata al Signore degli Anelli e ai personaggi più maestosi e misteriosi, personificazioni di Madre Natura, gli Ent, esseri saggi e antichissimi che proteggono la foresta e la guidano come pastori attraverso le ere, rappresentati nella copertina del singolo. La seconda è un personale ricordo del batterista Maxx, nonno Ferdinando, uomo di rettitudine, morale e coraggio, un maestro per il piccolo Maxx che ne conserva gli insegnamenti e immaginiamo anche le mosse e il carattere. Abbiamo voluto nascondere tra i pastori degli alberi la dedica a lui che, se fosse vissuto nella Contea, sarebbe stato certamente un Ent. Il risultato vuole essere sognante e malinconico, splendidamente reso in senso visivo da Roberto del Piccolo nel lyric video dove gli Ent disegnati da TheMaxx prendono vita. La produzione è di Masha Mysmane (Exilia) che ha perfezionato il sapore fantasy e guidato sapientemente le voci nelle armonie sovrapposte.

Italy’s GERDA have made a name for themselves as a premiere noise/shoegaze/post-everything band. Each album is an oppressive slab of frantic, emotive and dark music, somehow building on the framework of acts such as Neurosis and Drive Like Jehu, among others. They return this year with a brand new release titled “Black Queer”, which expands upon the foundation laid down with the earlier releases. Each of the songs are haunting and unique in their expressions and linger in the memory long after the album is over.
Says GERDA:
“‘Black Queer’ is our fifth album, recorded and produced by ourselves and delivered to you thanks to 4 italian diy labels.
It is another step in our search for chaos and confusion in sound and style. Our musical language is identified by the permanent overlapping of different rhythmic, harmonic, lyric and sound ideas, we don’t know what will be the synthesis of these elements in advance. Our sound is a life form not the product of a factory. Composing to us is releasing natural and heterogeneous images, then help them survive altogether within the same musical space, within the same pentagram, within the same metronome, within the same metaphor.
Ok, genres exist, and there’s a whole stylistic equipment that you inevitably meet and you inevitably use or chose not to but anyway you cannot escape from coping with it. We know there’s a tradition.
Now, one who listens to our music has probably already listened to a lot of punk, hc, post punk, noise, post rock, post hc, rock and roll, garage, kraut, psychedelia, metal, drone, isolationist electronic music, industrial, techno. Just like we did. What remains of all this in ‘Black Queer’?
Enough, we hope, to maintain a dialogue between us and the tradition to which we feel we belong, and at the same time we know it is a unique record. Openly dedicated to Francesco Vilotta, musician and unsettled seeker of the absolute. It is a homage and an invitation to slam one’s own diversity in the face instead of hiding it, one’s own being opposite”.
