In 1996, the industrialized, Northern Italy-situated city of Brescia was the perfect place for Tragodia to be born and for their music to start being shaped. Years have past since then. Years of truly dedicated musical research. After releasing in 1998 a critical-acclaimed demo-tape, (‘Dramas in splendent realms’), a self-produced mini-CD in 2001 (‘All our miseries’), facing several line-up changes, Tragodia got their first album ‘The Promethean Legacy released in 2007 by Dutch label Dark Balance Records. After gigging here and there (even in Greece and Norway!), the band released it’s sophomore album Theomachy in 2012 via My Graveyard Productions. In 2013 Tragodia signed a deal with Kolony Records for the release of it’s upcoming 3rd album Mythmaker. Mastered at Sterling Sound by UE Nastasi, Mythmaker sees the band engage in new musical domains and surely marks a step forward from where Tragodia left with their previous effort.

É con gran gioia che condividiamo oggi con il mondo il video trailer dello split tra The Magik Way e Malvento!
“Ars Regalis” rappresenta per entrambe i progetti coinvolti una pietra miliare nella propria carriera artistica. Due band, due progetti, provenienti dall’underground italiano e che ne han fatto parte per oltre vent’anni. Entrambe provenienti da un background puramente black metal evolutosi nel tempo in un qualcosa di completamente nuovo e differente, oscuro e affascinante.
Questo disco non é il classico split album, é l’unione di due forze ben distinte e rappresenta la voglia di intraprendere un cammino dimenticato.
Un “four handed split” (uno split a quattro mani come dicon le due band), in cui i due gruppi hanno unito le loro idee e sound per creare quattro canzoni uniche in cui son stati offerti nuovi brani ma anche interpretati alcuni che le band han preparato l’una per l’altra.

Società. Con questo singolo si è puntato il dito contro chi popola questo mondo: Dal singolo essere umano, a chi senza rimorso toglie vita al prossimo, a chi distrugge il nostro pianeta, a chi con le sue istituzioni ha contaminato la nostra società, fino a toccare le più elevate corporazioni. La direzione intrapresa dalla nascita dell’umanità ha sempre puntato in questa direzione: il Declino.
Ocean è un brano lento, in crescendo. Studiato per creare l’atmosfera che si respira, guardando la storia, nel suo ignobile incedere verso l’autodistruzione. Un lento climax verso l’inesorabile Declino che, come sappiamo, non si conclude con un “lieto fine”.
Malfunction of a social system è come girare il coltello nella piaga. I ritmi elevati e la struttura composta ci portano a descrivere a che punto è arrivato il genere umano. Non c’è filosofia, solamente la descrizione di ciò che vediamo, in testo e musica. Siamo un popolo di inetti.

AEVUM Release New Live Video “Sleeping Venus Tarantella”, Announce Next Show!
Italy, Turin based 8-member Symphonic metallers AEVUM released their outstanding new album “Dischronia” on March 17 2017, via Maple Metal Records. Today the band has unveiled a new live video for “Sleeping Venus Tarantella”, shot during the European tour with ORPHANED LAND in February/March 2018). The song is taken from the “Dischronia” album.
Formed in 2008, AEVUM‘s music is in perpetual inclination towards the union between the human being and the divine, between opposites, male and female, positive and negative, in a genre that is a bond between the neo-classical and gothic metal worlds. Aevum are known for their theatrical Live Shows, and have toured all over Europe with Haggard, Vision Divine, Blaze Bayley (ex-Iron Maiden), and performed at various Metal Festivals in Italy, since their inception in 2007. Aevum also performed at last years Metalhead Meeting Festival in Bucharest, Romania, that included such bands as Eluveitie, Delain, Dragonforce, Rotting Christ and Kreator. In February/March 2018 AEVUM toured Europe with ORPHANED LAND, in collaboration with ALPHA OMEGA Management.

NEUROMANT Announce Dates With God Is An Astronaut And New Promo Video
Electro alternative rock group Neuromant have announced 2 shows in November with the always great God Is An Astronaut. The band have also released the first music from their (as yet untitled) forthcoming album, due out on Sliptrick Records early next year. The track is entitled Useless, a brooding, pulsating introduction to their sound.

Concept: “Useless is a criticism of the music market saturated with both influential and non-influential characters, it is a critique of the static nature of the musical world that stagnates in the mechanism that it has created. The term “Useless” refers to the uselessness of the path that most artists now perform, breaking into the market quickly and leaving the scene as quickly, without having, in the middle, contributed minimally to an artistic enrichment, if not purely cheap.”
History: “The track was written entirely by us, it was a very laborious and controversial writing, we tried to come into conflict with ourselves to achieve this result. The piece is full of irony because, from the writing, it contradicts our “musical ideal” of “alternativity”: the text is provocative and alienating, but it rests on an almost “standard” musical base, falling into rhythmic patterns and melodic commons and that make it before a song, a paradox. It is the “simplest” piece of our album, but despite this it is the piece that has spent more time writing.”

The Italian melodic power metal band KALIDIA just released a lyric video for “Black Sails”, the second single from their new album “The Frozen Throne”.
“The Frozen Throne” will be released on November 23rd via Inner Wound Recordings. The album will be available on CD, digital and as an exclusive black wooden box edition, limited to 250 hand-numbered copies.
Inspired by classic power metal bands like Rhapsody of Fire, Hammerfall and Stratovarius as well as new bands like Beast In Black, Kalidia have created an uplifting melodic power metal album with the roots in classic power metal with a modern and fresh touch.

Gli italiani Deadly Carnage (Post-Black / Doom) hanno pubblicato il video ufficiale di “Ifene” uno dei brani del loro ultimo album “Through the Void, Above the Suns” appena ristampato in formato doppio vinile per Snow Wave Records. Il video è stato interamente realizzato in animazione e rappresenta il concept dell’album nella sua interezza; un viaggio nel cosmo tra creazione e distruzione, materia e vuoto.
I TRST sono una nuova realtà del panorama alternative-rock italiano. Fondata nel 2015 a Pordenone, la band nasce dal bassista e cantante Andrea Marson (voce, basso, chitarra, synth) e dall’idea di voler unire musica di stampo pop con sonorità alternative rock.
Insieme a Joshua Levine (batteria, tastiere) i due uniscono le radici punk con l’amore per la new wave, arricchendo le sonorità del gruppo. Inizia il lavoro sul primo album della band attraverso uno studio attento e approfondito del genere pop, con particolare interesse verso strumenti come pianoforte e sintetizzatori. La lingua scelta dalla band è l’italiano.
Il 12 ottobre i TRST hanno pubblicato il loro primo album dal titolo ORIGINE, registrato agli Artesonika Recording Studio insieme ad Ivan Moni Bidin (Starsick System, ex-Pathosray) e Fabio D’Amore (Serenity).
La band ha lanciato l’album con il singolo CONFINE, un vero e proprio anthem dell’alternative rock made in Italy, che unisce new wave, pop, rock e un ritornello super catchy.
Nei mesi precedenti la band ha rilasciato anche il primo singolo METROPOLIS e la cover di CHEAP THRILLS di Sia, entrambi contenuti nell’album.

Athrox is the brainchild of the guitar player Sandro Seravalle and the drummer Alessandro Brandi, with the addition of Francesco Capitoni at the guitar and the bassplayer Andrea Capitani. The lineup found its final shape with the singer Giancarlo Picchianti. With these members Athrox started the songwriting process for their first full lenght album entitled Are you alive? featuring 11 brand new heavy metal tracks released by Red Cat Records in 2016. Athrox music style is a powerful mixture of heavy metal with thrash elements, but characterized by different elements which brought the band to a great response from critics and audience. The lyrical concept behind Are you alive? features the rising problems of mankind: war and massive new media problems which enslaved our free will and sensibility. Are you alive? is the question Athrox would like to ask to everyone, to everyone enslaved by this corrupted society. The live activity has led the Athrox to share the stage with great artists such as Iced Earth, Ross The Boss, Mike Le Pond, Phil Campbell and many others, playing in local and renowned festivals. Now the band is working for the new album Through the Mirror, which is going to be released on November 9th 2018 via Revalve Records.

The band recently launched a video for the album’s first single, titled ‘The Good Doctor’.
The band says of the track: “Finally, the prescription you’ve all been waiting for… This dose of Haken is the result of one of the earliest tests we conducted during the Vector experimental process. Best taken aurally three times a day before meals. ‘The Good Doctor’’will see you now!”
They add on the video: “Making this video was a very cool, creative experience for us. Our director Stuart White presented his interpretation of the song in which we follow a man experiencing a manic, psychotic episode. Combined with the band footage, it encapsulates the energy of the song splendidly.”

To celebrate the announcement of the new album, the band ran a competition for one lucky fan’s artwork to be etched into the fourth side of the vinyl version of the record. They invited people to submit their own version of the Rorshach test ink-blot which graces the album cover, and the winner was revealed as Shakoor Bukhuth aka SHAUN BEYOND.
Since their inception in 2007, Haken have shown over four previous studio albums, one EP and a live release that they never stand still, merely satisfied to rely on past triumphs. Rather, Haken always look for ways to challenge themselves as musicians and artists, and also to keep the listeners on their collective toes. “We don’t like to make simple music,” laughs vocalist Ross Jennings. “We always aim to defy expectations, and I believe we’ve surpassed what we aimed to achieve with our new album.”
Their fifth studio record sees the band going in a heavier direction with the music. “We’ve always had a heavy influence”, explains guitarist Charlie Griffiths, “but it was obvious from the riffs that were naturally coming out of us early in the writing process that this would be a more metal album. These are some of the most riff driven songs we’ve ever written.” As is usual, Haken produced the album themselves, but for the first time they have enlisted Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood during the recording and mixing stages. Formerly bassist with Periphery, in the last couple of years he has built a reputation as a fine producer. “We produced the album ourselves, as we always do,” insists Jennings. “but we’re fans of what Adam has done with Periphery, Sikth and Devin Townsend. He has a great reputation for the heavier end of our genre”.
But if this album is musically heavy, then there’s an underlying theme running through the seven songs which is certainly esoteric and fascinating. “The scene is set with the track The Good Doctor, which was a really fun song. Musically it feels like a logical step from ‘Affinity’, but lyrically it’s a bit more theatrical and about as ‘rock opera’ as Haken has ever got”, explains Griffiths. “It’s about a Doctor with an intriguing, perhaps sinister interest in a particular patient. From there the story enters the point-of-view of the patient – who appears to be catatonic, but his mind is sparking with what could be memories, or delusions brought on by the treatment he’s receiving – we leave this up to the listeners to decide. Although we don’t want to give too much away, people who are familiar with our back catalogue will have fun discovering further clues we’ve planted throughout the album. And that’s the challenge for the fans – to find out for themselves their own meaning for ‘Vector’ as an album”.

Questo album che stiamo componendo e registrando rispecchia a pieno quella che è la nostra idea di musica. Se il nostro primo lavoro “Random Rock” è più che altro una raccolta di brani che abbiamo composto negli anni antecedenti alla formazione about:blank definitiva, quello che andremo a rilasciare sarà decisamente più omogeneo come approccio compositivo, come sonorità e come tematiche. Quello che possiamo definire a pieno il nostro primo album sarà un progressive a metà tra il “duro” e l’acustico con temi complessi e vari ma con una stessa origine: la manifestazione pratica dell’animo umano, delle sue paure e delle sue più antiche domande. I brani presentano strutture compositive in continua evoluzione di pari passo con il tema della canzone. Le nostre canzoni sono per lo più storie e come tali in continuo cambiamento. Cerchiamo di trasmettere attraverso le sonorità e la musica lo stato d’animo del momento della
canzone-storia a prescindere dalla comprensione o dalla lettura del testo in se in modo da creare uno stimolo coerente sotto ogni aspetto.
Biografia
Il progetto about:blank nasce a Bologna nel 2012 dal desiderio di quattro ragazzi musicalmente alle prime esperienze: Enrico e Mark fondano la band e nell’arco di pochi mesi si uniscono anche Ambro e Raul. Dopo qualche anno trascorso tra fase di composizione in sala prove, i primi concerti dal vivo, ed una lunga ricerca di un secondo chitarrista, è il 2015 l’anno della svolta per il gruppo: complici l’ingresso del chitarrista Mazzio, e la collaborazione con NUKE CREW, realtà formata da altre band bolognesi, il gruppo entra in studio e registra in maniera completamente “home-made” il suo primo album, “Random Rock” che uscirà poi ufficialmente nel 2017. Dal 2016 in poi la band continua a lavorare in parallelo tra concerti a Bologna e ulteriore lavoro in studio: dopo aver vissuto le prime esperienze di buon livello sul palco, una trentina di concerti e più di 200 album venduti, la band accresce la propria consapevolezza artistica e, decide di buttarsi a capofitto sul mondo progressive rock/ progressive metal, lasciandosi solamente in parte alle spalle la grande infleunza hard rock. L’uscita del secondo album e dunque l’ufficiale cambio di genere arriveranno nel 2019 .

‘Spellbound’, il nuovo, attesissimo album dei Sadist, veterani della scena Progressive Death Metal europea che tornano dunque con l’ottavo lavoro in studio. Il filo conduttore di questo nuovo lavoro è la filmografia del maestro indiscusso del brivido Alfred Hitchcock. Ogni traccia ripercorre infatti la trama di un film, tinteggiandola ovviamente di “nuances’ tipicamente Sadist, da ‘Frenzy’ a ‘Notorius’, passando per ‘The Birds’ e naturalmente per l’indimenticabile ‘Psycho’. ‘Spellbound’ è un’opera matura, un album solido ed aggressivo (sicuramente il più estremo della band ad oggi) ma sempre con gli immancabili richiami Prog/Death che hanno reso noto ed apprezzato in tutto il mondo il marchio Sadist.

“Il brano è focalizzato sull’evento biblico della Genesi, quando Adamo ed Eva scelgono il percorso della conoscenza attraverso la mortalità sulla terra, piuttosto che l’immortalità nell’Eden. È facile comparare questa storia all’esistenza umana attuale, pervasa da un costante senso di incompletezza, che può essere riempito solo dalla conoscenza”.

Le icone del metal SOULFLY pubblicheranno il loro devastante nuovo album “Ritual” il 19 ottobre su Nuclear Blast.
La band ha pubblicato un video per il nuovo singolo “Dead Behind The Eyes”, che vede la partecipazione del cantante dei LAMB OF GOD Randy Blythe. Il testo è ispirato ai Cenobiti, i demoni creati da Clive Barker e divenuti famosi con la serie di film “Hellraiser”.
Il cantante/chitarrista Max Cavalera ha dichiarato in una recente intervista con RockSverige: “È stato davvero figo. Randy è molto legato al produttore Josh Wilbur, che ha sempre lavorato con i LAMB OF GOD. Visto che era impegnato con il disco dei BURN THE PRIEST, gli ho chiesto di fare avere a Randy le canzoni: ‘ Fagliele sentire… Sarebbe davvero figo se ci fosse qualcosa che gli piace e che vorrebbe cantare’. Non avevo una canzone scritta apposta per lui, ma Josh mi ha detto che appena Randy ha sentito il brano che avevamo chiamato temporaneamente ‘Bruiser Brothers’, non ha avuto dubbi. Avevo già scritto il testo e gliel’ho mandato. È bellissimo avere la voce di Randy in essa. Ha un modo di cantare unico e davvero distintivo”.
“La canzone e le linee vocali sono basate su ‘Schizophrenia’ (disco che i SEPULTURA hanno pubblicato nel 1987) e ‘From The Past Comes The Storm’. Mentre lavoravo sulla canzone con mio figlio Zyon, lui stava ascoltando ‘Beneath The Remains’ e mi ha chiesto di brani come ‘Stronger Than Hate’. Ho pensato che avremmo dovuto provare a fare qualcosa di simile, aggiungendo uno dei miei assoli di Marc Rizzo preferiti. Credo che il risultato sia fantastico”.
Max spera di fare un video ufficiale per “Dead Behind The Eyes”, “soprattutto se Randy vi partecipasse. Dovremmo vestirci come i personaggi di ‘Hellraiser’. Sarebbe davvero fantastico”.
“Ritual” è stato prodotto, registrato e mixato da Josh Wilbur (KILLER BE KILLED, LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA). La copertina è stata realizzata da Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, ICED EARTH, SODOM), mentre del booklet si è occupato Marcelo Vasco (SLAYER, HATEBREED, KREATOR). L’album vede la partecipazione di svariati artisti come Randy Blythe (LAMB OF GOD) e Ross Dolan (IMMOLATION).

È in uscita il video di LIGHTER, nuovo singolo dei FINISTER. Il brano anticipa l’uscita del secondo album della band fiorentina, PLEASE, TAKE YOUR TIME, in uscita il 19 ottobre per Red Cat Records. Il disco, che vede la collaborazione del producer triphop di fama internazionale Howie B (U2, Bjork, Tricky), segue l’esordio discografico datato 2015 di Suburbs Of Mind (Red Cat/Audioglobe), apprezzatissimo dalla critica.
LIGHTER è il perfetto one way ticket per l’universo musicale dei FINISTER: sospeso tra riff di chitarra, arpeggiatori e ritmi quasi dance, il brano è un surreale incrocio di chitarre, echi e delay. L’ascoltatore viene trascinato dalla voce di Elia in un mondo di cui sembra essere custode, fatto di luci, di fiamme e di libertà: welcome my friends, the hangover of freedom is free!
Il video traduce visivamente l’atmosfera del brano. Colori, sfumature e ombre, intrecciandosi tra di loro, sono i contorni psichedelici di una realtà in cui perdersi: ad attenderci, i Finister.
