The band about the album cover: “We used the elements Earth, Air, Fire, and Water as symbols for realization, ideas, power, and emotion,” guitarist Marc Görtz explains. “These symbols inspire us to continue to do what we love the most, which is to create, evolve, and be inspired by our music. And these elements directly correspond to the cover art, which was done by Marcel Gadacz (Dream On, Dreamer). He did the art for ‘Gravity’, so we’re happy to have him back.”
For “Elements”, CALIBAN brought back long-time collaborator—going all the way back to 2007’s “The Awakening”—and studio wizard Benny Richter to co-produce with Görtz at his Nemesis Studios. CALIBAN also hired on Germany-based Andy Posdziech (Any Given Day) and buddy Sebastian ‘Sushi’ Biesler (Eskimo Callboy), as well as Australia-based Callan Orr (Dream On, Dreamer) to assist in the recording process. “Elements” was mixed by Görtz and mastered by Olman Viper, whose repertoire includes previous CALIBAN albums “I Am Nemesis” (2012), “Ghost Empire” (2014), “Gravity” (2016).
“The production on Elements was pretty different,” says Görtz. “The instrumental side of the production was produced by me, Andy, and Callan. Then, Benny and myself worked on fine-tuning the music. The vocals, however, were produced by Benny, with Sushi acting as a vocal coach. We wanted Benny to focus on the vocals and the vocal production. Getting them right was very important to us.”

Lo stile della pellicola vagamente neo settanta ed il movimento di camera a mano restituiscono un esibizione live dei Kaptain Preemo in uno studio televisivo.
Idealmente nel videoclip, attraverso la figura della cantante-batterista, viene rappresentato il tarocco della stella di Aleister Crowley.
Come nella carta, una figura di donna nuda colorata di blu si presenta al centro della scena illuminata di rosso.
Kaptain Preemo è un progetto garage rock psichedelico avviato nel 2014 dal cantante e chitarrista Luke Zammarchi e dal bassista Frank Fedi. Iniziato come trio con il batterista Gabriele Pollina e caratterizzato da un sound acido e sulfureo (The Stooges, Velvet Underground, The Sonics) dalle venature psichedeliche, blues e pop (13th Floor Elevators, Big Brother & the Holding Company, Donovan), il complesso ha poi visto l’ingresso del chitarrista Mek Spazio (Black Gremlin, ex Shinin’ Shade) e della cantante e batterista Sahira virando su un sound di maggior respiro che si colloca nell’ambiente neo-psichedelico di band quali Brian Jonestown Massacre e The Black Angels, con radici fermamente piantate nel rock ‘n’ roll. Le tematiche della band sono l’esoterismo, la controcultura e l’esperienza psichedelica quale motore di rinnovamento.
Il loro primo omonimo LP 24 novembre 2017 è uscito in vinile e in formato digitale per l’etichetta indipendente italiana Retro Vox Records, prodotto dalla leggenda americana Gregory Manzo e dalla stessa band.

La cantante finlandese Johanna Kurkela ha prestato la sua voce unica, mentre Troy Donockley e Tuomas Holopainen dei NIGHTWISH hanno lanciato i loro incantesimi con vari altri strumenti. Con ospiti selezionati scelti tra musicisti ed amici, l’album prende definitivamente forma sotto la direzione del tecnico del suono Tim Oliver all’interno dello splendore pastorale dei Real World Studios nell’Inghilterra meridionale.

Tutto è iniziato con una visione. Un’immaginazione virtuosistica di buon auspicio che si libra in aria, composta di frammenti multi sfaccettati e idee che via via diventano più concreti e prendono lentamente forma, per poi finalmente fuoriuscire dalla mente dei loro creatori nelle vesti di un nuovo progetto.
Completamente inatteso, è stato un processo naturale. Questo è ciò che è accaduto con questi tre eccezionali musicisti che hanno creato una gemma musicale sotto forma degli AURI, che brilla più luminosa della Stella Polare nel cielo notturno. Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas Holopainen e Troy Donockley – i carismatici protagonisti che si celano dietro agli AURI – portano il loro debutto omonimo in un viaggio fiabesco attraverso il tempo e lo spazio, lontano da qui, ricordandoci le avventure di “Alice Nel Paese Delle Meraviglie”.
Ci aspettano cascate sonore, piene di momenti magici e surreali che toccano tutti i sensi; a volte è struggente e sognante, poi è di nuovo eccitante e intenso. Gli AURI celebrano una specie di etno-pop epico-romantico che sembra fluttuare in sfere pittoresche che sono intangibili, ma liberano un manto dai suoni sfaccettati, pieni di potenti immagini. Queste cascate sonore si basano su suoni tradizionali celtici, sequenze di sogni cinematograficamente atmosferici, melodie melanconiche e un tocco di misticismo trasfigurato; la bellissima strumentazione ha una profondità insondabile.
Gli AURI sono il risultato di una passione condivisa. Tutti sono coinvolti in ogni aspetto. Tuttavia Tuomas Holopainen non vuole svelare troppi dettagli sulle canzoni e sulle storie sottese “poiché l’ascoltatore dovrebbe portare la propria storia nelle canzoni ed è proprio questo che rende il disco così bello. Esso prende vita dall’immaginazione di ogni singola persona!”, spiega il compositore. “Ma ciò che posso dirvi è che parte del contenuto e dei testi sono ispirati ai libri di Patrick Rothfuss. Forse chi conosce quei libri e quelle storie coglierà alcuni paralleli e scenari, ma nel disco c’è molto di più”.
Se Tuomas descrive “Auri” con parole sue, non può evitare di sorridere. “Qualche giorno fa, nella band abbiamo discusso del modo migliore in cui definire il disco. Ci sono venuti in mente due termini: Rabbit Hole Music e Celestial Metal. Ovviamente potrete sentire influenze di musica folk, celtica, colonne sonore… insomma tutta quella musica che amiamo e adoriamo, ma categorizzare lo stile è davvero impossibile. Spetta agli ascoltatori farlo!”. Al momento non c’è alcun tour in previsione ma una cosa è certa: “Questo è un album unico!”. Quindi mettetevi comodi, chiudete gli occhi e lasciatevi trasportare in profondità. Un mondo di sorprese e di miracoli vi attende al di là dello specchio.

About the band:
Singer Ryan Hurtgen originally met Johannes Luley as a client in Luley’s Los Angeles-based recording studio, My Sonic Temple. Luley, who was instantly impressed with his personality, song-crafting skills, and voice, asked Hurtgen to join him on a new project. This new group was going to continue the path Luley’s former band Moth Vellum had set out on. The two became fast friends and soon put together a full band which would also include founding member Jesse Nason on keyboards. After releasing Perfect Beings (2014) and II (2015) to critical acclaim, a few personnel changes occurred that left the band without a rhythm section. The guys decided they wouldn’t be deterred, even by such a major setback. Instead, they hired Minneapolis transplant Ben Levin to play the drums on their next album, with Luley taking over the bass spot in addition to playing guitars. The result is the exhilarating double album, Vier. As the group got closer to completing the record, they approached InsideOut, whose label chief Thomas Waber had shown interest a couple of years earlier. The parties agreed to join forces and release the record in early 2018. Levin dropped out and progressive rock drumming phenom Sean Reinert joined the band to add even more life force to an already powerful and highly skilled group, which also includes Jason Lobell on bass. The band can be seen in its current lineup at RoSfest 2018, early May in Gettysburg, PA.

Norway’s blackened thrash/heavy metal band SUSPERIA (feat. former Dimmu Borgir, Satyricon and Old Man’s Child members) premiere music video for the title track from their upcoming album “The Lyricist”, due out on March 16th via Agonia Records.
“The Lyricist” will arrive nearly nine years to the day its predecessor (“Attitude”, 2009) came out. Its release has been scheduled for the 16th of March, 2018, on Agonia Records. The album is available for pre-ordering HERE.
The origins of SUSPERIA can be traced back to 1998 when Tjodalv, then occupying the drum seat with Dimmu Borgir, and long-time friend Cyrus (ex-Satyricon, Old Man’s Child) got together to share ideas and write songs. Clearly rooted and seasoned in the Norwegian black metal scene, SUSPERIA elevated its sound into more melodic areas of extreme metal, embracing and exploring a variety of musical avenues with ease.
On “The Lyricist”, SUSPERIA has gone back to its black origin in many ways, one of which is a more grimmer expression. The characteristic melodic twist the band is known for is still present, and an additional layer of variety has been added thanks to new vocalist, Bernt ‘Dagon’ Fjellestad (whose stage debut with the band was made at last year’s 70000 Tons Of Metal Festival). From SUSPERIA’s pragmatic point of view, the new album is a “good old-fashioned kick in the head, both old and new fans should find enjoyable”.
“The Lyricist” was recorded at three different studios in Norway between February 2015 and May 2016. The album was later mixed and mastered at Strand Studio (Chrome Division, The Wretched End, In Vain) by Marius Strand. Cover design and artwork was prepared by Vincent Fouquet. New band photos were shot by Espen Bakken.

Italian hard rockers Lucky Bastardz have released the first official video for the track from their forthcoming album Be The One due for release on February 8th, 2018, worldwide via Sliptrick Records. The track goes by the name of My Best Enemy.
Here’s what the band have to say; “My Best Enemy talks about labyrinths of mind and their traps: a young woman enters a desert ancient palace, creepy and elegant. She will face different version of herself… is it really happening or is it just all in her twisted mind?”
