‘Forsaken’ é il nuovo album dei maestri del Progressive Metal Noveria. Il disco é un concept basato sui cinque stadi di reazione alla prognosi mortale di Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, scritto in memoria di una giovane donna che é stata strappata all’affetto dei suoi cari da una forma molto aggressiva di cancro. Ognuno dei brani del disco descrive i diversi stati d’animo di una persona che affronta una malattia terminale, provando sentimenti come diniego, rabbia, depressione e, da ultimo, accettazione del proprio destino.

ABORYM reveal cover, tracklist and guest musicians for new album; MINISTRY’s Sin Quirin on guest guitars and VASCO ROSSI’s Guido Elmi behind post-production
Italy’s legendary industrial/electro metallers, ABORYM, have revealed an impressive list of names behind their upcoming seventh album, “Shifting.negative” (including Sin Quirin of Ministry and Guido Elmi of Vasco Rossi fame). The band has also unveiled the full trackilst and cover, made by French artist David Cragne (Asymetric Entity).

The new album has been engineered by Emiliano Natali (Fear No One Studios), Teo Pizzolante (Braingasm Lab) and Luciano Lamanna (Subsound Studios). In the nearest future it will be mixed and mastered by Grammy-award winning Marc Urselli at Eastside Sound Studios (Lou Reed, John Zorn, Mike Patton) in New York.

Guido Elmi (Vasco Rossi’s legendary producer & manager) has been revealed as the post-production sound supervisor behind “Shifting.negative”. Fabban commented:

“We are working with a real professional, a true legend, probably our biggest fan and a great friend. Please join us in welcoming mr. Guido Elmi. No need to say Guido is Vasco Rossi’s producer & manager over the past 30 years and he has worked as producer with dozens of artists including Stadio, Skiantos, Gaznevada, Steve Rogers Band, Clara & Black Cars and many others. Today he’s also a singer and songwriter”.

“Shifting.negative” was recorded in the following line-up: founder Fabban on programming, modulars, synth and vocals, multi-instrumentalist Dan V on guitars and bass, Davide Tiso (Niō, Gospel of the Witches, ex-Ephel Duath) on guitars and Stefano Angiulli behind synths and keyboards. ABORYM’s ranks also include a long time associate RG Narchost, who’s a live musician for the band.

There’s also a long list of guest musicians involved in the album, most noticeably featuring Sin Quirin of Ministry fame on guitars. Other contributors include: Ricktor (The Electric Hellfire Club), Pier Marzano (Koza Noztra), drummer Andrea Mazzucca, vocalists Victor Love (Dope Stars Inc., Victor Love), Cain Cressall (The Amenta) and Nicola Favaretto N-ikonoclast. Further there’s Greg Watkins (Static of Masses, Order Sixty Six) and Luciano Lamanna on modular synths, Kelly Bogues (Zogthorgven) delivering additional ambient noise, Joel Gilardini (The Land Of The Snow, Mulo Muto, Black Machineries) on additional treated guitars, electronics & (D)ronin, Ben Hall (Silent Eretic) on power-electronics and Tor Helge Skei (Manes) on ambient-electronics. There’s also Tokyo based artist Youko Heidy responsible for experimental noise and FX and Leja Siv Harju who wrote the lyrics to “Going new places”.

“Habits” in versione Cd e 2° edizione digitale

Acclamati dalla critica dopo I’uscita in digitale del loro secondo album “Habits”, uscito a marzo per Areasonica, i MYR tornano e vestono i colori della casata Revalve per la release di “Habits” nella sua seconda edizione digitale e stampato in prima edizione nella classica versione Cd che sarà in distribuzioni mondiale dal 4 novembre 2016.
Registrato agli OuterSound Studios da Giuseppe Orlando, “Habits” si snoda in un post-prog che sprigiona un incredibile personalità. L’album è una riflessione sulla condizione e la vita dell’uomo occidentale.
La modalità con la quale questa riflessione è espressa è un cinismo a tinte cupe.
Non si tratta di un concept-album, ma tutte le canzoni analizzano, attraverso temi e racconti differenti, uno stesso concetto: le nostre mancanze/lacune/assenze.

About Sercati:

“Sercati’s story began in 2009, after a recording session between Steve, Damien & Nico. Songs were created and recorded for a half a year before a first demo, simply called « Sercati », was made. The second, « The Night Stalker », was recorded a little while after. Thanks to Carlo Bellotti Publishing, who found an amazing sound engineer for the recording and a label, Casket Music (Copro records), to produce « Tales Of The Fallen ». For the recording of the album, the band needed a real drummer instead of the rythmbox used before. That is how, in november, Yannick, a good friend of the band, joined them. Still, the whole band thinks that the best pieces are yet to come. Early 2012, the band left Casket Music to sign with a serbian label, Grom Records, to re-release the first album and produce a second one. Steve is sponsored by the strings Skull Strings and picks from Nologo Picks. And it’s in june 2013 that Nicolas left the band and the other members say welcome to Florian and later in 2014, Olivier Clément comes to play guitar in Sercati. Florian left the band few mounth later and finally Simon join the band in december 2014.”

OVERTURES: The new song “Through The Storm” as soundtrack for the NFL Season on Mediaset Premium – Italy

During the night of Monday 5th September on the Italian TV-Channel “Premium Sport”, the new OVERTURES’ song “Through The storm” was introduced with a videoclip containing the best actions of the 2015-2016 NFL Championship.

OVERTURES’ new composition has been commissioned by the Italian TV Show to be used as soundtrack for the entire NFL Season, from September to February with the Superbowl event! The main theme of “Through The Storm” will be used as soundtrack for all the matches, recap and TV Shows on Premium Sport.

There are few bands like this one. The atmosphere and sincerity I would say is unparalleled. I thought the last album was great but this one is even better. Echoes and Dust premiered a track over HERE. It drops in October in various formats including vinyl and tape.

Darkrypt (India/International) – ‘Delirious Excursion’

From India not Scandinavia, emerges a band expanding upon the sound laid down by the masters. With mixing done by the dark death metal expert Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios (Cruciamentum, Chthe’ilist, etc.) and mastering by the legend Dan Swano at Unisound Studios (Asphyx, Bloodbath, etc), everything has been done to perfectly capture the right sound intended for music of this ilk. With influences ranging from Demilich, Adramelech, Demigod, (early) Amorphis, Funebre and Nihilist, Darkrypt have taken the best elements of all and forged a sound that retains the local flavour and yet creates music that’s classic in intent, memorable as well as catchy. With guest appearances by Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, The Grotesquery, etc.), Nitin Rajan (Primitiv), not to mention the lyrical contribution of Riju Dasgupta (Albatross, Primitiv), this is probably the most ambitious debut by a new band from the country. Even devoid of all these contributions, the album on its own merit is rife with excellent riffs, varying tempos capturing a myriad contrasting moods, able percussion propelling the mind-melting structures, and thoughtful vocal delivery so as not to kill the effectiveness of death metal that’s heaving with an ability to express.

The artwork too has been done by none other than Turkka G. Rantanen (Demilich, Adramelech, Demigod, etc.)

La band nasce nel 2010 come studio project del chitarrista di New Delhi Keshav Dhar. Contattato nell’ottobre dello stesso anno da Daniel Tompkins (cantante dei TesseracT), Dhar inizia a dare vita a una vera e propria band, iniziando a considerare di portare sul palco la propria musica. Il primo album della band esce il 23 Aprile 2012 per Basick Records: “Blinding White Noise: Illusion And Chaos” in cui compare anche Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth). Nel maggio 2012 gli Skyharbor aprono per i Lamb of God in India, dopo essere stati scelti personalmente da Chris Adler. Seguono tour europei e un secondo album “Guiding Lights” uscito nel 2014. A giugno 2015, dopo un nuovo tour, Tompkins lascia la band; al suo posto entra Eric Emery con cui Dhar e soci iniziano a dare vita al terzo studio album, previsto per il 2017. Chalice of Suffering (International) – ‘For You I Die’

US based doom metal band Chalice of Suffering have worked hard on their debut release, and it shows. Employing flute and bagpipes as additional instruments to paint the canvas of their sorrowful music, Chalice of Suffering have brought to life an excellent rendition of life’s inevitable miseries, but they have done it with class and grace. With members of Nangilima, Wandering Oak, and We Are Legion adding their experience to John McGovern’s vision, the final product leaves nothing to be desired. The gently wafting music is punctuated by soul-tearing melodies, and the additional instruments coupled with the atmospheric melancholy, just takes it to a different level. One can actually feel different shades of grey as the music oscillates from black doom to glimmers of white hope that uplift the proceedings, mirroring life and its vagaries. The crushing death/doom music foundation gives it strength, the courage to go on, despite the reflection of tragedies, but all in all, this is what makes it beautiful – without darkness there can be no light. ‘For You I Die’ is the ultimate expression of moving, emotive, near-sentient doom metal music for the harrowed souls.

This one caught on fast and it only goes to prove that despite being a new band, if the music is soulful, it touches people. ‘For You I Die’ is probably one of the best such doom albums I’ve heard all year.

Fenriz e Nocturno Culto, hanno preparato per i loro fans una nuova odissea metal che chiarisce il perché i Darkthrone sono una delle band più longeve e rispettate nel panorama dell’ extreme metal.

Arctic Thunder è stato registrato e prodotto direttamente dalla band al “The Bomb Shelter” Studio, usato in passato dai Darkthrone tra il 1988 e il 1990. L’album è stato eseguito nel classico stile crudo ed organico dei Darkthrone. Le 8 nuove tracce del disco sono state nuovamente masterizzate da Jack Control negli Enormous Door Studios e sarà disponibile in vari formati: CD, Vinile Arancione in Edizione limitata (con codice download in Mp3), Vinile Nero (con codice download in Mp3) e in download digitale.

Le 16 tracce del disco sono state registrate a Monaco nel 2015 e Gennaio 2016 a Brighton, e l’uscita contiene anche delle tracce bonus del concerto di Chicago del Settembre 2015.

FUROR GALLICO – Le ultime quattro date del Summer Tour 2016

Si concluderà a fine settembre il Summer Tour 2016 dei FUROR GALLICO che ha visto la band esibirsi sugli importanti palchi del Gods Of Folk, Malpaga Folk Fest, Hard Entremont (Svizzera) e molti altri. Ancora quattro appuntamenti live per la Folk Metal band italiana.

Il primo sarà Domenica 4 Settembre al Monsters Of Venice che vedrà per la prima volta i Furor in azione a Venezia, in veste di headliner della seconda giornata del festival. Si passerà poi a Firenze con il Sinistro Fest (9 Settembre) e successivamente ad un altro importante festival con il Pagan Waves di Misano Adriatico dove la band torna dopo cinque anni di assenza. Il gran finale sarà invece a Milano con un’imperdibile data all’interno del Rock In Park presso il Legend Club di Milano in compagnia degli Holy Shire.

THE RETICENT to Release Prog Metal Concept Album ‘On The Eve Of A Goodbye’ in October

Grammy nominated Christopher Hathcock has returned with the fourth album from THE RETICENT. Heaven & Hell Records is pleased to announce the October 5th release of On The Eve Of A Goodbye. The album was produced by Jamie King (BTBAM, The Wretched, Scale The Summit), and will be released on limited edition CD with complete lyrics.

This is undoubtedly the most ambitious and intense offering from THE RETICENT to date. An uncompromising autobiographical concept record, On the Eve Of A Goodbye is certain to exceed all expectations, boasting 73 minutes of stirring progressive metal that must be heard in its entirety to grasp the full magnitude.

On The Eve Of A Goodbye is an autobiographical concept album. All of the tracks serve to detail the day before, day of, and day after the suicide of THE RETICENT’s mastermind Chris Hathcock’s childhood friend, Eve. The songs chronicle his concern for her, her deterioration into self-hatred, and culminates with the tragic act and its aftermath. Not only a stylistic contrast to previous releases, this album is also intensely more personal than past Reticent albums (which were already emotional purges). The album is intended to be heard as a single entity rather than a collection of tracks.

The album was recorded in order in the span of a few days in the summer of 2015 (with a touch up in November 2015). Producer/Engineer Jamie King (known for previous work with BTBAM, The Wretched, Scale The Summit, etc.) chose to allow Hathcock to do as he needed in the studio as he felt it added greatly to the emotion of the record. In fact, on the song “Funeral for a Firefly” when trying to record the lead vocal part, Hathcock made it only two lines in before sobbing hysterically as memories and the trauma he had held back for a decade came flooding to the forefront. After calming to the point that he could catch his breath, Hathcock told Jamie King that he felt unable to record the song. Jamie encouraged him to try just one more time and if it didn’t work, they’d drop it. Hathcock went back into the booth and made it through the entire song with constant tears streaming down his face and his voice cracking and quivering as he went through. Jamie was so affected by the performance he said he wanted to keep the raw performance – as in no edits to the sound so every sniffle and breath could be heard putting the listener in the booth with the despairing singer.

Norwegian black metallers RAGNAROK renew long-standing relationship with Agonia Records and announce European tour
Norway’s RAGNAROK have signed a new three album deal with Agonia Records, continuing the relationship that has so far seen the release of the Norwegian Black Metal veterans’ seventh and eighth full-length albums, “Malediction” in 2012 and “Psychopathology” in 2016 respectively, as well as the special edition retrospective “Chaos and Insanity Between 1994-2004”, which traces the first decade of the band’s history.

Founder and iconic drummer Jontho, had this to say about the decision to stick with the label:

“We looked at several other offers when our contract with Agonia expired, but one of the most important things for us was the kind of relationship we could have with a label. We know that with Agonia we can have open and honest discussions and exchanges of ideas, which always result in something productive for both parties. It’s not just about releases for them, it’s also about all the other things that go into making a band successful”.

Agonia Records commented:

“Ragnarok is in a class of its own for delivering more than two decades of truly intensive music. And that’s a heck of a time. One could say a band is burnt out after so many years of artistic expression, but this isn’t the case with Ragnarok. If anything’s burning, it’s their enthusiasm, that’s being well channelized with experience. We are happy to re-new the deal and we are thrilled and looking forward to working on the upcoming releases!”

Formed in 1994 RAGNAROK’s history spans well over two decades. As with any band that has lasted this long, there have been changes in the lineup along the way, not least of which was the decision by Jontho, one of the most recognisable and respected drummers on the Norwegian Black Metal scene, to expand his performing repertoire by laying down his drumsticks and taking over as vocalist. Aside from Jontho on vocals, the band’s lineup includes long-standing guitarist Bolverk (Images At Twilight), session bassist Viti (Images At Twilight, Hinsidig) and drummer Daniel Minge (Dauden).

Having appeared at various festivals over the summer, RAGNAROK is set to play at Mörkaste Småland in Sweden, before hitting the road headlining a series of dates in Europe in the autumn.

SKILTRON – Una data a Bergamo il 13 Settembre

Direttamente dall’Argentina, tornano in Italia gli SKILTRON. La più importante Folk Metal band sudamericana pubblicherà il nuovo album “Legacy Of Blood” per Trollzorn Records. Per l’occasione, il tour europeo toccherà anche l’Italia. Bagana Rock Agency è orgogliosa di presentarvi il concerto di Martedì 13 Settembre al Druso di Ranica (BG). Un evento imperdibile per tutti gli amanti del Folk Metal.

La band, fondata nel 2004 a Buenos Aires, ha all’attivo cinque album e numerosi tour internazionali con partecipaizoni ai maggiori festival euoropei tra cui l’edizione 2015 di Wacken Open Air. Il nuovo lavoro viene descritto come la perfetta maturazione del sound della band, con numerosi rimandi al Folk scozzese e agli Skyclad, pionieri del genere.
